Heavy Fuel é uma música da banda inglesa Dire Straits lançada no último disco de estúdio deles: On Every Street, e foi bastante executada durante a turnê que originou o VHS/DVD On the Night.O gênero da música é considerado "rock de raiz" (roots rock).
É uma crítica aos excessos dos roadies e seus vícios e comportamentos. A frase "You gotta run on heavy fuel" foi extraída do romance "Money" de Martin Armis, no qual Knopfler se baseou para escrever a letra.
Havia um tempo tinha encontrado a base da guitarra na internet transcrita pro Guitar Pro. A base de guitarra estava errada e através de um trecho de midi que eu consegui na net comecei a escrever a bateria da música e terminei por escreve-la inteira. Meu amigo Khalil conseguiu escrever a linha de baixo e durante muito tempo a midi ficou parada. Esse ano finalmente consegui gravar essa versão embora ela pudesse ter ficado melhor. Enfim, estou me dedicando a caprichar mais nas minhas músicas próprias do que nos covers que venho gravando ;D
Gravei a música usando efeitos do programa Guitar Rig e todas as bases de guitarra foram gravadas com uma Squier Vintage Modified Series Strat.
